Arthritis Care UK

Arthritis Care exists to support people with arthritis. They are the UK’s largest organisation working with and for all people who have arthritis.

British Heart Foundation

The British Heart Foundation was founded in 1961 by a group of medical professionals who were concerned about the increasing death rate from cardiovascular disease.

Their aim was to raise money to help fund extra research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and circulatory disease.

Since then there have been vital major advances in the treatment and prevention of heart disease.

In 1986, the BHF become more involved in public education, and in 1990 moved into rehabilitation.

British Lung Foundation

One person in seven in the UK is affected by a lung disease. Whether it's mild asthma or lung cancer, the British Lung Foundation is here for every one of them. The British Lung Foundation supports people affected by lung disease through the individual challenges they will face. Support is the focus of many of their activities, including a nationwide network of Breathe Easy support groups.

They help people to understand their condition. They do this by providing comprehensive and clear information on paper, on the web and on the telephone.

Help For Heroes

Help for Heroes is a British charity launched in September 2007 to help provide better facilities for wounded British servicemen and women. It was founded by Bryn Parry, a cartoonist and former member of The Royal Green Jackets, after he visited soldiers at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham. The charity was launched after a meeting with General Sir Francis Richard Dannatt KCB CBE MC, the Chief of the General Staff, the professional head of the British Army.
